Damien Center is a new construction 3-story, 50,000 square feet HIV/Aids resource center located in Indianapolis,
Indiana. JQOL, in partnership with Axis Architecture, is the Structural Engineer of Record and is responsible for the
design of the steel framed structure.
Steel braced frames and columns provide the space with a open floor plan for the offices and gathering spaces,
and an elevator tower and two stair towers provide access to each level of the structure. The ground level
features covered parking and more meeting and presentation spaces. Natural light and integration with nature
is a focal point for the large windows and curtain wall sections and incorporation of greenery throughout the
space. Two clerestory popups in the center of the third floor give a path for natural light to enter the interior of the
structure and are supported by steel moment frames and braces.
